Speech Pathologist

Wendy Lonstein

Wendy Lonstein completed her Speech Pathology Degree at the University of Sydney and is a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia. With more than 20 years' experience working in a range of service delivery models, including community health, hospitals, schools, and private practice, Wendy has worked with children with a variety of communication disorders, in both one-on-one and group settings.

Wendy has a passion and special interest in treating children who stutter and has dedicated much of her career to helping children who stutter. Wendy is trained in a range of evidence-based treatments for stuttering such as the Lidcombe Program, The Oakville Program, and the Westmead Program and is continually developing and updating her skills with further education. In addition, Wendy is affiliated with the Australian Stuttering Research Centre (ASRC) and is a long-term member of the NSW Stuttering Interest Group.

Wendy is uniquely placed to treat children who stutter with empathy and perspective beyond her professional expertise as a speech pathologist. As a parent of a child who experienced stuttering, she understands the effects of stuttering on the child, their parents, and the whole family, and she has felt the emotions and complexities that occur with stuttering.

Wendy genuinely cares about her clients’ wellbeing and understands that each child and family have differing needs and circumstances, requiring individualised care. Wendy enjoys working closely with clients and their families, as well as teachers and other professionals, to improve the ability of children to communicate & be part of their community.
